Honest Diagnostics

Clear answers, realistic options, and documented expectations — before any work is done.

Before any repair, upgrade, or system change, the first priority is understanding what’s actually going on and whether it makes sense to move forward.
Diagnostics aren’t about selling a repair — they’re about helping you make an informed decision.

What Diagnostics Are — and Aren’t

Diagnostics are intended to:

  • Identify the root cause of an issue

  • Determine whether a repair is practical

  • Explain realistic outcomes and limitations

  • Help you decide what makes sense to do next

Diagnostics are not:

  • Guesswork

  • A sales tactic

  • A guarantee that a system can or should be fixed

What Is Evaluated During Diagnostics

Depending on the issue, diagnostics may include evaluating:

  • System startup behavior and stability

  • Software and operating system health

  • Hardware condition and error indicators

  • Storage health and performance

  • Cooling and thermal behavior

  • Compatibility or support limitations

Not every system requires deep diagnostics — the level of evaluation depends on the issue being reported.

Clear Communication Comes First

Once the issue is identified, I explain:

  • What’s causing the problem

  • What options are available

  • What each option involves

  • Expected outcomes and limitations

Everything is explained in plain language, without unnecessary technical jargon.

Documented Expectations

Before any work is performed:

  • The scope of work is clearly defined

  • Risks and limitations are discussed

  • Expectations for resolution are communicated

  • The plan is documented and agreed upon

This helps avoid misunderstandings and ensures there are no surprises later.

When a Repair Doesn’t Make Sense

Sometimes the most honest answer is not to repair a system.

This may be the case when:

  • The cost outweighs the value of the system

  • The issue poses a high risk of data loss

  • Hardware or software is no longer safely supported

  • A better long-term option exists

In those cases, I’ll explain why and help you consider alternatives.

A No-Pressure Approach

Diagnostics are provided with no obligation to proceed with a repair.

The goal is to give you enough information to decide what’s right for your situation — whether that means repairing, upgrading, repurposing, or replacing a system.

Drop-Off & Next Steps

Diagnostics are handled via scheduled drop-off after initial contact.
